Believe it or not, this is only the second time I’ve ever really tried to lay a wig. Most days I’m the “throw it on real quick” type, but I’m getting ready for a trip and I wanted my install to look extra clean. In this video I start by cleaning my forehead (because that’s where all the good stuff is going), then I braid my hair into two simple braids to keep everything as flat as possible. If my hair wasn’t blown out, I’d definitely do multiple braids for an even flatter base. I use a wig cap that came with my wig, smooth my edges back, and go in with the Got2B spray (because let’s be real… it’s a staple for laying wigs). I press it down with the end of a makeup brush and blow dry it to get that tacky hold. The wig I’m wearing is from Beauty Forever, and since I’m kind of short, I decided to cut it to a more natural length—yes, I had a little “instant regrets” moment, but I ended up liking where it landed. I also try out a dual applicator tool (precision tip + silicone end) to help “melt” everything down, then I tie it up with an elastic band like I always see people do. By the end, you get a real before-and-after, plus beginner-friendly steps you can follow if you’re learning how to lay your first wig.
