About This Video

Hey y’all—this video is my full, beginner-friendly twisted bob tutorial that I did at home after I posted a short and y’all asked for the long version. I filmed it originally for IG/TikTok/Shorts, so the format is a little different, but you still get the full gist of how to do the style from start to finish. I’m using Cuban twist (braiding) hair for the twists and adding human curly hair pieces for the curly leave-out moments, plus leave-in and a slick product to keep everything laid. I walk you through my prep and the realest part of the whole process: parting. Parting takes me the longest—like an hour to an hour and a half—because I’m super picky about straight lines, and I’m literally rotating between multiple mirrors to check myself. Then I show two different install methods: (1) braiding in the twist hair without rubber bands (gentler and not as tight at the root), and (2) the rubber band + crochet method (tighter root and, for me, it lasts longer). I also break down the barrel method for getting that perfect bob length without having random pieces hanging—trial and error is part of doing it yourself, and honestly the little differences add character.
