In this video I’m doing that popular “feed-in braids in the front, down in the back” look—but I switched it up because I wasn’t about to be stabbing myself with a needle doing a sew-in. Instead, I used crochet human hair in the back. It was my first time trying this wet & wavy human hair crochet, and I wanted human hair specifically because I’m going to the beach and I didn’t want to deal with the hair getting matted or looking crazy. I show you how I prepped my hair (freshly washed), how I sectioned everything off, and how I decided to braid the back into a few straight-down braids to create a base for the crochet. I also talk through the reality of finding human hair crochet at the beauty supply (it took me two stores), how the crochet pieces can be maneuvered to cover the net and fill in gaps, and how I approached the front braids with clean parting and a simple diagonal vibe (I wanted a design, but I tried not to make it too complicated). Real talk: doing this on myself took forever—like five hours—so I’m giving you the honest expectations, plus what to watch for with length matching between the crochet and your leave-out.
