About This Video

In this video I’m basically saying: treat your phone like your “big camera” and your photos will instantly look better. First thing I always do is keep a microfiber cloth with me and clean the lenses—sounds stupid simple, but it’s one of the fastest quality upgrades you can make. Then we get into the real king of photography: light. Without light, there are no photos. I show you how the same subject (like flowers) looks boring in the shade but pops when you move to where the sunlight hits—and the best part is the best light is free. After that, I talk about shooting with intention: always have a subject. If the scene looks boring, I’ll turn something simple—like a road—into the subject by changing my angle, getting low, and composing with trees and leading lines. If you don’t have a subject, borrow one: wait for someone to walk into frame, or just ask a stranger for a quick portrait. I also break down the rule of thirds (turn on the grid on iPhone), using framing to make shots more interesting, and why editing/color in post can completely change the vibe. And yes—use the main camera (1x/24mm) when light is low, because the other lenses don’t hold up as well for edits.
