About This Video

In this video I review the new CloudWheels Explorer 135mm, starting with a quick unboxing and a look at the build. The first thing I noticed is they’re a bit heavy, but the whole point is that internal “cloud” rubber core that’s supposed to imitate the feel of a pneumatic tire without actually having air. The wheels look amazing—wider than most street wheels, with an aluminum alloy hub that honestly looks super premium (yeah, I said it… sexy wheels). I also show the magnetic light system that locks into the hub, how the modes work, and how the lights can sync. Fitment was a whole thing: I couldn’t mount them on my Meepo Hurricane Bamboo Pro (pulley mismatch), but I did get them working on my Exway Flex 2 Pro. On a longboard they do raise the center of gravity a bit, which I don’t love, but it basically turns the board into a “pseudo” all-terrain setup. Comfort is the big win—on rough tiles (like riding in Barcelona) it’s a big fat yes, and it feels like riding an AT board with 150mm wheels. Range does take a hit on a board that isn’t meant for big heavy wheels, and uphill power drops a bit, but for me it’s not a deal breaker. The grip is fantastic (hard to slide), the no-puncture feel is legit, and while the lights are kind of a gimmick and can rattle slightly, the wheels themselves are awesome if you’ve got the budget.
