We use that Japanese rail safety method—pointing—because it forces your brain to actually confirm what your eyes might gloss over. I point and count the five handles: 1-2-3-4-5, watching that each one is tucked underneath and fully clamped (not that “breathing”/slightly-open setting that can go bad fast). And if you feel resistance while tightening? Stop. Undo them all, lift the window up, bring it back down, and close again—starting outside and working toward the middle usually makes it seal properly.
