What used to be a thing for the key elites, Yunzii is out here bringing full aluminum keyboards to the masses—and in this video I’m taking a close look at the Yunzii AL98. It’s the bigger brother to my AL66, rocking that super practical 1800-style 98-key layout for anyone who actually needs a numpad for macros, number crunching, or just getting work done. I unbox it, do a sound test, and break down what makes this board such a ridiculous value right now. The AL98 is built like a tank—full CNC anodized aluminum, almost 5 pounds (2,175g), and it has this subtle glittery powder texture that honestly looks even better on the black body. I’m also a fan of the little touches like the RGB backlit cloud beside the escape key that doubles as a battery indicator. Typing feels and sounds fantastic, and these Cocoa Cream V2 linear switches (50gf) are a big win for me compared to the original milk switches on the AL66. On top of that, you’re getting tri-mode wireless, 1000Hz polling, an 8000mAh battery, and QMK/VIA support—so you can tweak everything without sketchy software. I do call out a few cons: some legend printing inconsistencies, uneven keycap heights out of the box, a bottom foam choice that feels old school, and a typing feel that’s a bit stiff for my preference. But overall, for the price, this is one of the most accessible aluminum “masterpieces” in this size. Why settle with boring? Make life click.
