About This Video

In this video I’m testing NuPhy’s brand new Kick75, which they’re calling the world’s first “hybrid profile” keyboard. The whole idea is wild (and honestly pretty exciting): one board that can run as a low-profile keyboard for on-the-go productivity, or convert into a full high-profile setup for your home desk—by swapping switches, keycaps, and the top cover. NuPhy sent me an early production unit for review, and they had zero editorial say here—these are my honest thoughts after actually using it. I walk through the unboxing, the retro 8-bit Odyssey design (bright primary accents, transparent elements, and that unique cross-shaped knob), and the deeper DIY angle—like open-source 3D printable parts and optional plate materials. Then we get into the real meat: typing feel and sound. Straight out of the box, the Kick75 is shockingly good in low-profile mode—deeper, firmer, and way more satisfying than I expected, largely thanks to the new Nano switches co-designed with Gateron, plus the dampening layers and gasket structure. I also cover software: QMK/VIA support is great, but NuPhy IO genuinely impressed me, especially with the “smart knob” app-specific controls. It’s not perfect—the profile conversion is a bit of a hassle and the add-ons can stack up—but as a bold, experimental keyboard that performs, it’s a standout. Why settle with boring? Make life click.
