In this video I’m diving into one of those MK4 Supra jobs that nobody gets excited about until the car smells weird, won’t defrost, or the air just doesn’t go where it’s supposed to: refurbishing the HVAC box and heater core area by replacing all that old foam. On these cars the factory foam turns into dust after decades, and once it’s gone you lose proper door sealing inside the HVAC box—so you end up with weak airflow, inconsistent temps, and a system that just feels “tired” even if the blower motor is fine. My goal here is simple: restore the HVAC system so it works like it should, not “good enough.” I’m pulling things apart, cleaning up the housings, and re-foaming the doors/seals so the air actually gets directed through the right passages again. The big takeaway is that this is absolutely worth doing while you’ve got the dash apart or you’re already deep in a restoration—because doing it later is a pain. If you’re building a clean MK4, this is one of those details that makes the whole car feel finished when you finally drive it.
