In this tutorial, I show you two clean ways to add GIFs anywhere in your Shopify store—without installing an app. First, I go through the Shopify theme customizer method: from your dashboard, head to Online Store → Customize, then click Add section and choose Custom liquid. This is my go-to when I want a GIF to live inside a section on a page (like the homepage) and still be easy to move around with the theme editor. Next, I pull a GIF from GIPHY (I literally searched a cute cat because I love cats), hit Embed, and copy the non-responsive embed code. I paste that code into the Custom liquid block, then I show you how to remove the “via GIPHY” line if you don’t want the credit text showing. After that, I adjust the GIF size by editing the width and height values right in the embed code, and you can center it too. Finally, I show an alternate method for adding a GIF inside a Shopify page: open Pages, edit the page, click the “Show HTML” icon, paste the embed code, tweak width/height, save, and you’re done.
