In this beginner-friendly Shopify tutorial, I walk you through the full setup of a brand-new online store from start to finish. I start with creating your Shopify account, choosing a plan (I recommend the Basic plan for new entrepreneurs), and then jumping into your dashboard so you can follow along step by step. From there, I show you how to pick a theme (I stick with the default Dawn theme because it’s proven for good conversion), and I go into the editor to customize your branding—your image banner, tagline, button text, logo, colors, and typography. Next, I build out the store foundation that actually helps you sell: adding your first product (including using Shopify’s AI to generate a product description), setting pricing, inventory, shipping weight, and variants. I also show you how to create collections to keep products organized, and how to customize the homepage by adding sections like a featured collection. After that, we clean up the navigation menu (including submenu items) and set up the essential store policies (refund, shipping, terms) using Shopify templates—then add them to the footer menu. Finally, I cover payments (Shopify Payments + keeping PayPal for conversion), shipping rates, store details, taxes, branding, connecting/buying a custom domain, and removing the password so your store goes live.
