Can an audiophile headphone *really* work for pro studio mixing? The Aune SR7000 is getting insane hype for being neutral and detailed, but is it "PRO enough" for mixing, mastering, and tracking? This is my review of the Aune SR7000 from a true studio perspective. Of course I don't represent studio people these are just my preference and subjective impressions. About This Video

In this video I’m answering a question I kept seeing in the audiophile space: can the Aune SR7000—an “audiophile” closed-back—actually hang in a pro studio for mixing, mastering, and tracking? I’m Joven from Project Beats, and I’m coming at this from the studio side (not really an audiophile… though I might be slowly turning into one). I tested the SR7000 for a couple of weeks, and my TL;DR is: yes and no. Stock tuning? It’s neutral-ish, but to my ears it’s a bit subdued and not something I’d rely on confidently without correction—especially with that big 4k dip. Where it gets interesting is after EQ. My main goal was bringing up the 4k region and keeping the low end in check while still letting it hit clean without getting muddy. I tuned it using Squiglink (and yeah—if you’re thinking Sonarworks, I’d rather you save your money and do this properly with preference bounds). After correction, the SR7000 came alive: snare pop and crack detail, faster transients, lively low-end attack, and overall a much more reliable “mix brain” presentation. For a closed-back, it’s immersive and engaging—even if the soundstage is naturally tighter. For studio work, I’d genuinely pick a tuned SR7000 over a lot of the usual “pro” closed-backs (DT770 Pro, K371, NDH20, HD 620S, DCA Noire X). Tracking drums felt premium and engaging, but for vocals you may get a bit of bleed since it’s comfortable and not death-clamp tight like typical tracking cans. Big thanks to Sam Audio Singapore for the loaner—links are in the description.
