In this video I put a $50-ish mini amp to the metal test: the Melonare MA1. It’s a 10-watt, USB-rechargeable little brick (about the size of a big gulp) with dual speakers, Bluetooth, two channels, reverb, and built-in drum loops. I plug my guitar straight into it—no pedals—so you can hear exactly what the amp is doing on the clean channel and the overdrive channel, plus how loud it actually gets in a real room. The big takeaway: the clean tones on this thing are genuinely gorgeous for the money, and the clean + reverb combo is a blast for practice. The drum loops are simple but usable, and I like that you can tap tempo and control drum volume separately from the guitar. Bluetooth works exactly how you want it to—pair your phone/computer and jam to backing tracks. Where it falls short is the built-in overdrive. It lands in that awkward “too much for edge-of-breakup, not enough (or not the right kind) for metal” zone, and when you crank it you can hear the speakers start to give up. If you want metal tones, my advice is simple: use it as a clean pedal platform—because that’s where this little amp actually excels.
