In this video I walk you through the four different PC test benches I keep around the house/office, where each one came from, and why I still use them today. If you’ve ever tried to troubleshoot a motherboard on a desk, you already know why a proper open-air setup matters: faster swaps, easier access to headers and power, and way less fighting with cramped case layouts. I start with the simplest option—basically a test bench made from an old PC case—because that’s the reality for a lot of us: use what you’ve got and make it work. From there I step up into purpose-built benches, including a high-end open bench that’s friendly to water cooling (my “wet bench” setup), plus an open-frame crypto-mining style case, and a stackable open chassis that’s great when I’m juggling multiple builds for the channel. I also show a few small accessories that make test-benching smoother—things like a proper power/reset switch harness and a little motherboard speaker—because those tiny parts save time when you’re validating a build. The big takeaway: pick the bench that matches what you’re testing (air vs. water, one-off troubleshooting vs. repeat builds), and make your workflow the priority.
