About This Video

In this video, I talk about a situation many of us will face in the cake business: a customer who genuinely thinks you’re a scam and believes you’ll take their money and disappear. I share my personal story from the COVID lockdown period when I moved my cake business home and had orders coming in from different countries. One customer (picking up from my home) kept pushing for personal details and kept doubting my ability to deliver, even though my page already had my work, testimonials, and customer content. Honestly, it felt like a red flag, and I almost refunded and walked away. But I also show you the approach that helps you turn that kind of suspicion into trust—without fighting your customer. I used to get defensive, but I learned that bringing “boxing gloves” to the conversation can make you lose the customer fast and damage your reputation, because bad experiences spread quickly. Instead, I stay firm, explain my process step-by-step, share testimonials and links to my pages, and ask what they need to feel reassured. When it makes sense, you can even invite them to see your studio/bakery. The goal is to be empathetic, protect your brand credibility, and guide them through a calm customer journey that ends in a successful order and a loyal customer.
