About This Video

In this video, I’m talking about something we don’t talk about enough in the baking industry: your mental health as a baker. I share from my personal experience because this year hasn’t been the most fantastic for me, and I’ve not been as consistent as I used to be—especially online. But I’ve learned that if I dwell too much on what I can’t control, it won’t help me. So I focus on what is within my circle of control, especially in a season where we’re dealing with high cost of ingredients, cost of living crisis, customers buying less, and even social media engagement not giving the “validation” it used to. I walk you through practical things I do to stay in a safe space: I talk to a trusted person (for me, my husband), I read books that actually interest me (and I don’t force myself to finish what doesn’t), and I find a creative outlet when I’m not baking as often—like coloring, writing, or even cooking “just because.” I also share how my faith helps me (reading my Bible, using the Bible app), why curating positive content online matters (yes, you can train the algorithm), and why therapy is nothing to be ashamed of if it will help. And of course, self-care counts too—spa days, manicure/pedicure, window shopping—anything that helps you create a positive space around you.
