Whenever I’m feeling the crushing weight of modern existence (and the bin collectors), I do what any sensible Oldhammer gremlin does: I go rummaging through the past. This video is the payoff for what you’ve all been waiting for—the results of the Olden Demon Painting Competition 2025, where hundreds of you dragged pre-millennium miniatures out of retirement, slapped on a fresh lick of paint, and proved (to my mounting irritation) that you’re all absurdly talented. We hit 358 entries this year, which is frankly ridiculous considering I disqualify about 95% of miniatures ever made and still demand a goblin green base like it’s sacred law. I run through the commended entries and then the six winners across sci-fi and fantasy, and the standard is obscene—these aren’t dabblers, these are people with Golden Demon trophies and Slayer Swords between them. Highlights include Darren Latham’s smooth-as-butter Space Wolf Sergeant, Tonykant’s beautifully handled Corandras, and Alexandre Gille’s comic-book-lit Bad Moon Boss that I’m legally obliged to call our generation’s Mona Lisa. On the fantasy side: Dean Lecoq’s jewel-studded Nasgob, Marco Pescini’s tiny-but-lethal Night Goblin, and John “Murph” Murphy taking gold with a Warhammer Quest Elf Ranger loaded with non-metallic sorcery. Then I lay out how the competition evolves for 2026: tighter classic categories, plus a new classic freestyle category and—because the machines are coming—an Oldhammer-inspired classic artwork category.
