In this video I do what any sensible Warhammer lore reviewer does: I take a slightly tongue-in-cheek conspiracy theory (Paul McCartney being replaced in 1966) and apply it to the 41st Millennium. The claim is simple and completely unhinged: Roboute Guilliman is dead, and what’s walking around the modern setting is #FauxbouteGuilliman—an impostor. To make it work, I dig into the real issue underneath the joke: the disconnect between classic 40K (that “frozen at a few seconds to midnight” background from roughly 1993–2017) and new 40K post-Gathering Storm, where the narrative is being shoved forward with Primaris, returned Primarchs, and mega-events on a timer. I run through Guilliman’s timeline—Codex Astartes, the Fulgrim neck-stab, stasis on Macragge, and the Cawl “wizardry” revival—and point out the plot holes that start to stink when you line dates up. Then I go after the sacred cow: the Codex Astartes logic doesn’t really hold when the Traitor Legions and Daemon Primarchs are still out there with far bigger toy boxes. Finally, I present the suspect: Alpharius (or Omegon), backed by old White Dwarf-era lore, the Alpha Legion’s entire impersonation gimmick, and that wonderfully nasty Godblight throne-room exchange where “liar, thief, betrayer” suddenly sounds less like random Emperor abuse and more like an accusation. It’s mostly a bit of fun—but it’s the kind of fun Black Library could absolutely steal and make canon tomorrow.
