In this video I take a good hard look at Leman Russ — the Primarch who might be the most important missing piece in the entire 40k jigsaw, despite spending the last ten millennia doing his best impression of “narratively suspicious disappearance.” I run through the three big “versions” of Russ (Rogue Trader relic, 90s myth-beast, and the Horus Heresy character arc) and why, unusually, his portrayal actually lines up across eras. Then we get into the juicy bit: Russ as the Emperor’s Executioner, the Burning of Prospero, and why that title makes everyone’s conspiracy alarms start screaming about the two Missing Primarchs. From there I dig into the Rangdan Xenocides material, the hints about the Space Wolves and Dark Angels being “entrusted” to do what had to be done, and the repeated mind-wiping that turns atrocities into heroic sagas. The problem is: Aaron Dembski-Bowden has basically pulled the fire alarm and said there is no official answer to the Lost Legions — meaning any “Russ executed them” theory can’t be canon. But I don’t leave it there: I talk about why the Spear of Russ is the one loophole that might let him remember what Malcador buried, and how that could tie directly into Russ’s oath, his disappearance, and the “beasts left to slay.”
