About This Video

Games Workshop has announced Legions Imperialis and, yes, my heart did that medically “concerning” thing. In this video I do my usual “Dogbait” routine: quick, sharp, and a bit sinister—four specific corrections to the WarCom size-comparison article, because if I’m going to wave a clickbaity title around I’d better earn it. I point out that the supposed Shadowsword is actually an Epic Stormblade; the Hunter shown is from Epic Armageddon (Mark 2B chassis), not Epic 40,000; the Leman Russ Executioner and Vanquisher are Forge World variants; and those original metal Rhinos are Adeptus Titanicus-era, from the lead-up to the confusingly titled Space Marine. Then I zoom out into a potted history of “Epic” and its many names: Adeptus Titanicus (1988), Space Marine and its second edition (1991), the controversial Epic 40,000 (1996), and the community-shaped fourth edition trial rules era. I explain why Epic mattered—tiny tanks, giant robots, constant kit support—and why it faded, before the modern revival path through Adeptus Titanicus (2018) and Aeronautica Imperialis. Finally, I give my take on Legions Imperialis: it looks like a modernized Epic Space Marine set in the Heresy, and I’m liking what I’m seeing enough that I’ll buy two boxes—especially if it means Thunderhawks, Terminators, and (maybe) an Imperator Titan down the road.
