In this video I react to a viral tour of Carmel High School, and from a Gen X point of view… man, that school is unreasonably large. I’m talking auditorium, planetarium (yeah, a whole planetarium), massive hallways, a library that had me like “what the—”, and even a cafe/market situation inside the school. Then it just keeps going: varsity gym that looks bigger than some junior colleges I’ve seen (Laney and Merritt weren’t even touching that), a freshman gym, a weight room so big my old weight room could fit in the corner of it, and a track/field house setup that feels like a city facility—except it’s on campus. But the main takeaway? I’m not mad and I’m not hating. I’m actually happy kids get access to stuff like live radio, TV, auto shop, wood shop, cooking rooms—real options that can shape what you think you’re capable of. Where I came from, wrestling was basically “pull the mats out on the basketball court,” and a lot of those opportunities didn’t show up for me until my 20s. Seeing a school like this just makes me think how different my career choices could’ve been if I had those experiences at 13, 14, 15, 16. It’s shocking, it’s dope, and yeah… it’ll make you feel like you were born in the wrong generation.
