In this storytime, I’m getting into PART II of the time I got scammed at the very first Carnival I ever attended here in Europe. If you watched Part I, then you already know the vibe—this is one of those “I wish I knew then what I know now” moments, and I’m walking you through how it played out, what I noticed after the fact, and why the whole situation felt so off once the dust settled. My biggest takeaway is this: when you’re traveling (especially as a Black girl abroad), you have to move smart and trust your gut—even when you’re excited, dressed up, and just trying to enjoy the culture. I’m sharing the lessons I took from it, what I’d do differently next time, and the red flags I want you to clock so you don’t end up in the same position.
