About This Video

I broke my rules in March—oops. In this low consumption / low buy check-in, I’m sharing exactly where I slipped and why, because accountability is kind of the whole point. What I learned (again) is that season changes are a huge trigger for me. It’s not even “spring fashion” as much as it’s cold-to-warm and warm-to-cold that makes me start thinking I suddenly need new basics, new colors, and just a few “fresh” things. The biggest rule-breakers were nails and clothes. I bought 19 boxes of Ahoora gel strips even though I still had a stash, because I found a good deal and I genuinely love how they hold up—especially since I swim 4–5 days a week and regular polish doesn’t stand a chance. Then I did an Old Navy order (t-shirts plus two jean jackets I’ve worn a ton), and I also grabbed two pairs of colored jeans from Quince for upcoming work conferences—even though it kind of felt like I was looking for an excuse. Overall, I spent $566.36 outside my rules, but I also had “in-rule” repurchases, a small hobby/game purchase, and swim cap replacements. I sold three items for $121.92, decluttered/donated a bunch, and I’m choosing to move forward without beating myself up.
