About This Video

Hey everyone, in this video I’m doing my Christmas saving challenges for the month of April and making it actually fun to save throughout the year. I start by counting out my cash (I had $250 total) and then I also talk through an extra $10 that came from my “$5 roll with it” reallocation from March. Since I redid my budget and I’m not formally budgeting for Christmas the same way anymore, I’m using reallocations and my monthly minis to feed my miscellaneous envelope as a little buffer for things like shipping, random extras, or if a category goes slightly over. Then we get into the challenges: I do two envelopes in my $500 giving challenge (perfect for Christmas gifting), and I use my Budget with Carlie randomizer cards to pick which challenges I’m working on in my blue binder. I finish several challenges today (which felt so good), swap in new ones like “Son of a Nutcracker” and “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” and even do a tiny “cheat” at the end by crossing off a $1 stocking so I don’t leave myself with an IOU. By the end, I completed $244 worth of challenges and reallocated it straight into my Parents category (goal $300). This is exactly why I love cash stuffing—when Christmas comes, it feels like guilt-free spending because it’s already planned and saved.
