Yo what’s up everybody, it’s ya boy Clint aka MrDifferent, and in this video I’m back in FL Studio taking a look at what I believe is the best 808 plugin on the market… and yes, it got better. FAW took the original SubLab (which was already one of my favorites) and made it more beefy, more weighted, and just easier to work with. This is SubLab XL, and I’m mainly focusing on what’s new—new oscillators, new effects, better navigation, and some extra tools that make modern 808/bass-heavy production way faster. I show you how the synth section still keeps the classic shapes, but now you get extra options like “Super Saw” for more Reese-bass style sounds, plus better layering with the sample section. I also like that you can throw your existing 808 samples into SubLab XL and process them inside the plugin—so you can sound design what you already use and make it hit harder. On top of that, the new tape and bit crusher-style effects can get you into that gritty, broken, wobble vibe quick. And the macro tab is super dope for automation and quick tweaking—two sliders can basically turn one 808 into multiple variations.
