Yo what’s good everybody, it’s your boy SL aka MrDifferent. In this video I finally sat down with the FL Studio 21.2 update (yeah I didn’t jump on it day one like everybody else) because I wanted to actually mess with it and give you my honest opinion. My overall take: it’s a very good update, but I do feel like it’s a little bit overhyped. There’s some genuinely dope stuff here, but it’s also still missing some key things people have been asking for—and I’m gonna make a dedicated video on that. I break down the new “Sounds” feature (basically a budget Splice inside FL), and I like it more than Splice in one big way: if you buy credits and cancel, you still keep your credits. As long as Image-Line keeps the pricing right and keeps dropping quality packs, that’s a win—especially for beginners, beat block, and anybody hunting for new inspiration. Then I test the AI mastering export. It’s cool, but it’s not really my cup of tea yet—it feels like a basic master and it’s definitely in the baby stages. The real game changer to me is the stem separation: it’s fast, it sounds pretty damn good, and having it built directly in the DAW is huge for sample-based producers and remixers. I also check out Kepler (their Juno-106 style synth), and for a free FL plugin, it rivals a lot of the paid emulations out there.
