Happy Tom Ford Tuesday—today we’re on a little side quest. I took my beloved (and sadly discontinued) Tom Ford Mink Mirage quad and put it head-to-head with the Danessa Myricks Everyday Magic Mini in Freedom to see if it’s truly giving Mink Mirage vibes. I did a full overview, pulled the two chrome shades out of the Danessa palette so we could focus on the four mattes, then swatched everything shade-by-shade to look at undertone, depth, and how close they really are. On the skin, the tones are very close, but you can see differences in brightness and depth—especially in the lightest shade. Formula-wise, I’ll always say the OG Tom Ford mattes have that ultra refined, soft, blurred finish that feels distinctly Tom Ford. But I was genuinely impressed with Danessa’s mattes: creamy, pigmented, and they layered, blended, and built so easily. Then I created a side-by-side eye look (one eye Tom Ford, one eye Danessa) and honestly? The end result is very similar in vibe—soft, sculpted, realistic, and practical. Is it a true replacement? No. But if you’re hunting for Mink Mirage energy, I do think the Danessa Myricks option is a very worthy alternative.
