About This Video

Welcome back to the Marilyn Darling Show—today’s video is a frazzled (cake-baking disaster) but very sparkly mail time vlog featuring custom pens from our dear friend Jim Edwards of Huge Elvis. I unbox several of his handmade resin pens, geek out over the colors (blue, green, white, black, sandy tones, and that absolutely unhinged gold-strip shimmer), and I talk through fit-in-the-hand stuff like grip section size, posting, and how the tolerances feel when the parts screw together. One of them immediately became my favorite because the cap is translucent and sparkly and the whole thing just looks sick. I also show off my beloved “bloop pen” concept—the short, practical design I asked Jim to build so I can twist the piston and squeeze a little bloop of ink out on the fly. If you use shimmer inks or you do calligraphy work like I do, you already know why this matters: shimmer particles can clog a feed, and I do not have time to unscrew barrels and re-prime mid-client. These pens take a Bock 250 nib unit (and a Schmidt K5 converter fits), and I ink up the flex nib with a dark blue shimmer (Ostram… Nostromo Blues vibes) to see how it behaves. I’ll be bringing these to the LA pen show to let people handle them and I’ll report back after a couple weeks of real use.
