In this “clean with me” classroom reset, I’m taking you behind the scenes in my Montessori toddler room (18–36 months) as I deep clean, reorganize, and refresh everything for 2024. My toddler classroom is built off the side of my house, and during the holidays it turns into a space for big family gatherings—so after that, it’s time for a full reset. I’m doing the not-so-glamorous stuff like paint touch-ups, switching works on the shelves, and getting ready for brand new countertops while my dishes are all out. As I put the environment back together, you’ll see exactly how I think through shelf changes—like swapping shoe cleaning for boot scrubbing (I’m waiting on one final piece), bringing back paper tearing, and setting up the art shelf with choices like kinetic sand and familiar fine-motor works (button snake, rubber band board, triangle stacker). I also share why I like to introduce big “brand new” works after a break: the children are already coming back ready to adjust, so it’s an easier transition when the layout changes. The biggest refresh is my updated dishwashing setup. Instead of a work the children carry out from a shelf, I’m setting it up right by the snack prep and eating area so they can wash their dishes right there—simple, practical, and toddler-friendly.
