At PIPELINE™ 2025, I sat down with Aaron Leblanc (@Bobsdecline) to talk about the real shift we’re seeing on jobsites: moving from traditional Type 1 full brim hard hats to Type 2 safety helmets. This isn’t just a trend—slips, trips, and falls are a leading cause of serious injuries, and side-impact protection matters when the hit doesn’t come straight down. For power utility linemen and other pros working in the elements, we also heard loud and clear that a full brim still matters for sun, rain, and added coverage in arc flash-type scenarios. We break down how user research drove our BOLT™ Full Brim Safety Helmet design—especially heat, weight, and comfort.
