In this video, I show you how to run OpenClaw for free with Kimi 2.5, end-to-end. I start by breaking down the two costs you normally deal with: the machine cost (where OpenClaw runs) and the ongoing AI API cost (like OpenAI/Anthropic credits). The big win here is that Kimi 2.5 is free right now through NVIDIA Moonshot, so we focus on keeping the setup affordable while still running OpenClaw on an always-online, more secure environment—your own VPS instead of your personal computer. I deploy OpenClaw on a Hostinger VPS using their Docker Manager, grab and safely store the OpenClaw Gateway Token, then generate a Moonshot (NVIDIA) API key for Kimi K2.5. After that, I add the environment variable for the Moonshot key, open the OpenClaw dashboard, and configure the Raw JSON using the config file I linked—so OpenClaw knows to use Kimi 2.5 as the main model without you manually pasting keys into the JSON. Finally, I test the chat to confirm the connection is working, and I walk you through connecting Telegram via BotFather so you can message your assistant from your phone or desktop. I also mention that the free NVIDIA API can be a bit slow, and if you outgrow it, you can move to Moonshot’s paid platform for faster usage that’s still typically cheaper than OpenAI or Anthropic.
