In this video, I’m building a real AI assistant in about 15 minutes using OpenClaw—not just another chatbot. The big difference is that a true assistant has three things: a brain (an AI model via an API like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini), memory (so you’re not starting from zero every time), and tools (so it can actually do things). Most “AI assistants” online only respond when you open a tab and type. What I’m setting up here can run on a schedule, stay online 24/7, and message you first—like my daily Telegram summary that checks my calendar and anything important that needs my attention. I walk you step-by-step through deploying OpenClaw on a VPS (I use Hostinger’s one-click template to make it beginner-friendly), logging into the dashboard with your gateway token, and connecting Telegram through BotFather. Then I show how “skills” turn OpenClaw into something useful—like connecting Google Workspace so it can read your Gmail and Google Calendar. Finally, we create a daily job that runs automatically at 9:00 AM and sends a short priority summary to Telegram. Before you connect anything important, I also cover the security basics I want you to take seriously: treat tokens like passwords, only install skills you trust, use a VPS instead of your personal computer, set API spending limits, and add approval rules plus cost controls so you don’t end up with a surprise bill or risky actions running without your permission.
