In this reaction video, I checked out a UK creator’s list of three animals you can only find in the UK, and I had a lot of questions (and a lot of “wait… is that normal?” moments). The video starts up in the Cairngorms (he keeps saying it like “kangs,” and I’m over here like… where exactly is this place?) while he’s feeding reindeer by hand. Watching that was wild to me because those antlers look serious, and I was honestly thinking about how easy it would be to get clipped. But he explains how tame they are, how soft their lips feel, and even how the velvet on antlers works. From there, the list hits the Scottish red deer (smaller than other European red deer due to isolation), the Scottish wildcat (only around 30–50 left in the wild, plus issues with hybridizing with domestic cats), and the Scottish crossbill, which is the only truly endemic species on the list. The crossbill part got me thinking about how many birds we have in the US, and how you can’t always tell species apart by looks alone—sometimes it’s the song. Overall, it’s one of those videos that makes me want to travel more, because the scenery alone was unreal.
