Hey guys—so in this video I’m basically explaining why I’ve been MIA, because I know a lot of y’all have been asking in the comments, on Instagram, Facebook, even email. The truth is it’s not just one thing. I got burned out on reaction content after grinding like a robot—film, edit, sleep, repeat—trying to push out two or three videos a day. On top of that, a huge chunk of my reaction videos get claimed, which means they stay up but I don’t earn from them, and it’s hard to justify pouring that much time into something that’s not paying me back. The bigger reason, though, is real life. In 2024 my dad’s health started declining fast, and I moved out of my downtown Houston lifestyle and into my parents’ house to take care of them full-time. If you’ve ever been a caregiver, you get it—it’s like having multiple full-time jobs, and it’s not easy to leave the house without someone covering for you. The upside is I landed a new full-time remote digital media job, which is honestly the most ideal setup I could’ve asked for. Now I’m trying to figure out what’s next for this channel. Reactions are moving to Melvin Maya Reacts, and I’m also building out other projects like Houston Food Fanatics, Ghost Texas, Paranormal Unknown, and a new channel called Travel with Melvin.
