About This Video

A dangerous storm is coming, and in this forecast I break down why we’re shifting fast into a much more volatile setup across the central and eastern United States. Tomorrow we’re looking at a Level 2/5 Slight Risk with a broad area of storms from the Midwest into the Ohio Valley, and I’m especially watching for supercells firing mid-afternoon (around 3–4 PM). The big story is very large hail—potentially up to baseball size—along with damaging winds and a conditional tornado threat if storms can stay discrete or semi-discrete before they quickly cluster into a line. I also walk through the timing: quieter in the morning, storms ramping up mid-afternoon near northern Illinois/Indiana, then becoming more linear by roughly 6–7 PM with a growing wind threat and a lower tornado risk after sunset (which is good, because nocturnal tornado setups are the hardest and most dangerous). Beyond this system, it’s not one-and-done—another surge of warmth is already lining up, and the first week of April looks active with multiple storm systems possible. On top of that, we’re on a temperature roller coaster: record heat ahead of the front, then a sharp cool-down, then warmth returning—an overall pattern that can support more widespread severe weather.
