About This Video

I’ve been testing the Sony ZV-E10 II for about two months, and I finally put it through a proper real-world test on a trip to the Canadian Rockies. In this video I break down who this camera is actually for, because on one hand it’s genuinely amazing for video—4K 10-bit looks insanely close to my A7 IV in a lot of locked-off situations, and even the S&Q mode is super usable for easy time-lapses. It’s also ridiculously portable (292g), the battery life is way better, and the price at $999 is kind of wild for what you’re getting. But yeah… there are a few things that make me want to stab it with a knife. The biggest one is no in-body stabilization, and I ran into micro-jitters that Catalyst Browse couldn’t fully save. I found a workaround with optically stabilized lenses (the kit lens can actually be worth the extra $100), but there aren’t a ton of OSS options on E-mount. I also talk about the electronic-only shutter (rolling shutter, banding, flash limitations), overheating expectations, and missing EVF—plus why the a6700 might be worth the extra $400 for some people. My verdict: if you’re learning video on a budget, it’s one of the best picks right now. If you’re photo-first, I’d steer you elsewhere. If you’re hybrid, it can work—just know the drawbacks before you commit.
