About This Video

Nobody’s really talking about the Sony ZV-E10 II for photography yet, and that’s wild because it’s been out for about a month. In this video I break down whether the ZV-E10 II is actually “good enough” as a hybrid camera for photos—especially since it’s electronic shutter only. To test it properly, I shot a full portrait session with a model using the new kit lens plus two full-frame prime lenses I already own, and I also left RAW files you can download so you can judge the results for yourself. I go through the real pros: the 26MP APS-C sensor gives you plenty of room to crop, the autofocus is seriously intelligent (eye tracking was locked on the whole time), and you get RAW options including lossless compressed. Battery life was better than the rating too—I still had juice after around 150 shots. I also love the updated grip, the dedicated photo/video switch, and the smarter touchscreen orientation when you flip between landscape and portrait. Then I hit the cons, and they’re pretty glaring: no EVF, banding under certain indoor lighting, rolling shutter “wobblies” with fast movement, and flash limitations (1/30 max shutter). My verdict: if you’re buying only for photography, there are better options (even the original ZV-E10 with a mechanical shutter). But as a travel-friendly hybrid that’s already insane for video, it can absolutely work for portraits, street, and more static shooting.
