About This Video

In this video I’m comparing the brand new DJI Neo against the DJI Mini 4K / Mini 2 SE (they’re basically the same drone) to help you figure out which budget option actually makes sense for what you shoot. I also left free photo + video samples from both in the description, so you can download the files and judge the image for yourself. The DJI Neo is all about convenience and fun: it’s cheap to get flying (around $199), the phone controls are genuinely a blast, and the follow mode is the big standout because you don’t get that on the Mini 2 SE/4K. It’s super light at 135g, has protected props, and I love that you can literally launch it from your palm and grab a quick establishing shot without even pulling out your phone. The trade-offs are real though—limited Wi‑Fi range on phone control (about 50m), no microSD slot (only internal storage), and you’re paying extra if you want the controller. If you care about cinematic, stable footage, the Mini 4K/2 SE is still the safer buy for the money. You get a proper 3‑axis stabilized gimbal, stronger motors for wind, better battery life (31 minutes rated vs 18 on Neo), microSD expandability, and RAW photo support—so for short films and “nice looking” work, that’s where I’d put my cash.
