About This Video

This video is my DJI Neo review… but it’s also my FlyAway story. I took my first Neo to Turkey, tried a simple “follow me” style launch from my palm over a pool, and the drone started getting tweaky. The sensors can freak out with light reflecting off water, and my Neo basically turned into a little UFO, launched full speed into the sky, barely missed a building, and disappeared kilometers away into the jungle. Long gone. I break down what happened, what DJI’s manual actually says about flying near water, and how DJI Care handled my replacement. After that, I get into what the Neo is (and isn’t). It’s not a Mini-series drone, and it’s not really for cinematic image quality—honestly, the quality isn’t even as good as the first ever Mini. But it’s super convenient: pocketable, sub-$200 territory, shoots 4K 30, and you can flip into a Pro mode to adjust ISO, shutter, and white balance. I also talk about follow mode as the main use case for beginners, show how I make the footage look better in post, and do some real-world crash tests (including indoors) plus my thoughts on wind performance, stabilization jitters, and why goggles/FPV compatibility is a surprisingly big win.
