In this video I put Samsung’s brand new Galaxy Book6 up against the M4 MacBook Air 15 because they’re aimed at the exact same buyer: thin-and-light, general use, and around the same price. The problem is Samsung is charging about $1,249 for a configuration that, in my testing, gets beaten in basically every benchmark by a $1,099 MacBook Air. I lived with both for weeks, and the gap ended up being way wider than I expected. I start with the stuff you feel immediately—single-core performance and browser speed—where the M4 Mac is noticeably snappier (170 vs 116 single-core, and 52 vs 36 in Speedometer). Then I get into the hardware: Samsung usually makes the best displays, period, but the Book6’s 16-inch 1080p-class IPS panel is confusing at this price, especially next to the Mac’s brighter, sharper screen. From trackpad and keyboard feel to speakers, gaming, and creator workloads, the Mac keeps pulling ahead—while staying completely silent. The one clear win for the Galaxy Book6 is ports (Ethernet, HDMI, USB-A, microSD), but at its current price I’d only consider it on a big sale.
