This monochrome deer skull wire sculpture is my entry into Shogun-Jimi's Skull Challenge 2017. This is the mount from the first buck I ever shot. The mount was degrading and the skull was starting to fall apart. By creating a wire frame instead of the skull, I can preserve my first buck and get a beautiful art piece. Using wire I sculpted the main shape by comparing the skull and the wire. I was then able to move on to the teeth, making sure to return to the antlers with the wire after every pass. I used one continuous piece of wire for this sculpture. I spray painted it black and updated the base with a little white. I attached the skull to the base using some small scraps of wire twisting them from behind to for a tight hold. When all was done, I mounted it on a wall above our stairs. Let me know what you think in the comment below!
