I made a nice sheet metal version of the Mandalorian skull symbol from the Star Wars universe. The Process: I started by searching for a vector version of the design on the internet. Once I found one that was suitable, I used software to resize and fit the design on an eight and a half by eleven sheet of paper. I then took a suitably sized piece of sheet metal and made sure it was flat. I cut out the design and used it as a stencil by attaching it to the metal using spray adhesive and painting over everything with a dark colored paint. After pealing off the paper stencil I was left with unpainted areas that outlined the design. I used a rotary tool with various bits and a bench grinder to remove all the black painted sections of the material. I then took some old nails and bent and cut them into shape to create some small hangers for the design. I used some thin plywood as a backer making sure to keep it about a half an inch away. (I used a second print out of the design to help me with this). After painting the backer a black color, I attached the metal pieces with both fast acting glue and some five minute epoxy. the fast acting glue allows the pieces to be attached and hold while the epoxy is for long term stability. I secured the wall art to the wall using some command strips. (link below) If you enjoyed the video please give it a like and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
