My son and I made a wire art piece by free forming copper from standard electrical wire. The Process: We started by removing the insulation form the wire and cutting it into several short pieces. We then formed the wire to shapes that looked pleasing to us. We then cut some plywood into small squares and painted them black. When the bases were dry, we drilled small holes to accept the wire diameter that we had. We then pressed the wire into the bases and added small rubber bumper to the bottom. I have a feeling a sharp pointy tip would not make for a pleasent forming experience.
