Concrete and Copper Wind Chimes | QUIKRETE® One Bag Wonder 3.0 Contest #Quikrete1bagwonder

We made some concrete wind chimes using a single bag of QUIKRETE®. Although they don't really work, the result is quite unique. This was our entry into the #Quikrete1bagwonder challenge The Process: We used Quikrete fast setting concrete for this project. We also used PVC pipe both 1” and 2” to make the forms. We measure the desired length and then cut the pipes to size making sure the keep the 1” pipes longer (about 2” longer). We covered the outside of the 1” pipes with plastic wrap and the inside of the 2” pipes with vegetable oil. Both the plastic wrap and the oil was to allow the concrete to release easier. We used thick copper wire to form the hanger loops. When we mixed and poured the concrete, we used a sander to vibrate the forms to help settle out the bubbles. Once the concrete set up, we cut grooves in the outer forms to allow them to break free. We used some copper flashing to create bands on each of the hanging “bells”.
