It’s an especially fun experience for kids, but I had just as much fun running this as an adult. If you want to try this yourself, here’s what you’ll need: 🏡 Essential Components ✅ Smart Home Devices – Various sensors, smart plugs, lights, and speakers throughout your home (or a single-room "escape room" concept). ✅ Apple Home – All devices need to be in Apple Home. I used a mix of Matter and Homebridge integrations. ✅ Controller for HomeKit – This paid app unlocks advanced automation features, including notifications, which are crucial for this quest. ⚙️ How It Works Triggers: Most automations start with “when a sensor detects something” (motion, humidity, contact sensors, etc.) to create an immersive experience. Hidden Conditions: Converted many automations to shortcuts so that multiple conditions had to be met before progressing. Notifications: Used Controller for HomeKit to send clues when conditions were met, rather than manually triggering the next step.
