Automating my bathroom fan… again 😅🚿🛠️ Quick recap of the original (pricey-but-perfect) setup, then a new single-device approach with Inovelli’s Matter-over-Thread humidity sensing switch. We’ll rethink the logic (rapid-rise humidity vs. fixed thresholds), build it in Homey, and show an Apple Home workaround—without spoiling the ending here. 😉 Previous videos referenced Automating the Bathroom Fan (Inovelli Fan Switch + Arre Sensor) — https://youtu.be/gzoX2G9g87g Your Smart Home's "Router" - https://youtu.be/7TMUKOcp6sU Smart Home Logic Series- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLy1syIRjWAVpd9gpCIL1noUH6CH2Gh29n Products referenced Inovelli White Series On/Off Switch w/ Humidity (Matter over Thread) — https://inovelli.com/collections/inovelli-white-series/products/thread-matter-white-series-smart-on-off-switch-w-humidity Inovelli Blue Series (Zigbee) — https://inovelli.com/collections/inovelli-blue-series/products/blue-series-smart-on-off-switch-w-humidity-sensor Inovelli Fan Switch — https://inovelli.com/collections/inovelli-white-series/products/thread-matter-white-series-smart-fan-switch-3-speed-ceiling-on-off-exhaust Arre Temperature & Humidity Sensor — https://amzn.to/3L4zohn Homey Pro / Homey Pro Mini —https://amzn.to/4h4mCvn Chapters 0:00 Intro 1:06 Why thresholds failed 2:27 The plan: rapid-rise humidity logic 3:42 Building it in Homey (Advanced Flow) 6:39 New Inovelli humidity sensing switch: first impressions 7:48 Sensor quirks & trend analysis 9:11 Apple Home workaround (Shortcuts) 10:15 Verdict & who this is for Some links may be affiliate links that help the channel at no extra cost to you. About This Video

I’m automating my bathroom fan… again. Earlier this year I built a “pricey-but-perfect” setup using the Inovelli fan switch plus an Arre temperature/humidity sensor placed right above the shower, and it worked great—until the seasons changed. My Apple Home automation was based on fixed humidity thresholds, so my baseline humidity drifted from ~40% to the mid-40s and beyond, which caused random fan triggers… then eventually the fan never turned on because the house was already sitting above my threshold. Add in a dead sensor battery for weeks, and it was time to rethink the whole approach. In this video I rebuild the logic around what’s always true during a shower: humidity rises fast. Instead of “turn on at 55%,” I use rapid-rise logic (like +8% in 3 minutes) and build it in Homey Pro using Advanced Flow and a couple variables. Then I swap in Inovelli’s new White Series Matter-over-Thread on/off switch with built-in humidity sensing to get to a single-device solution—no extra sensor, no batteries. The catch: the humidity data is noticeably jaggier than the Arre sensor, so I show how I refined the automation (including adding a “lights must be on” condition), and I share an Apple Home workaround using a threshold plus a short “wait and re-check” Shortcut to avoid false triggers.
