In this video I’m taking you with me to Gangnam (yes, Gangnam Style) because I’m getting a Korean skin clinic treatment, and I wanted to show my experience as a Black girl doing K-Beauty treatments. I head back to Renovo Skin Clinic and start with a proper consultation—like a deep dive scan that tells you everything: your skin type, skin age, hydration levels, and all your concerns. I loved that they actually asked what I wanted to work on and then recommended treatments based on my skin instead of guessing. After that, I’m taken into this super luxe, locked treatment room (slippers, headband, jewelry tray… it was giving luxury vibes) and I do the BB Shine treatment plus a brightening IV. The BB Shine is basically a multi-step “vacuum” situation that targets sebum, whiteheads, blackheads and helps reduce Demodex, while also exfoliating with AHA/BHA and hydrating with hyaluronic acid—which me and hyaluronic acid have been getting along very well lately. Then we do the brightening IV with glutathione to support a more even tone, especially if you’re dealing with hyperpigmentation and acne marks like me. My skin right after was so glowy and bright, I was genuinely shook—and yes, Koreans can absolutely understand melanin-rich skin when they’re educated and know what they’re doing.
