About This Video

Building a home gym is overwhelming—racks, benches, plates, cables, leg machines… there’s a million options and it’s easy to waste money. In this video I build out complete garage gym setups from $1,000 all the way to $8,000, and I’m doing it based on what I’ve actually used (or what I’d realistically buy) to get the best performance at each budget. Every build starts with the “cornerstone” all-in-one rack, then I fill in the essentials—bench, barbell, plates—and layer in upgrades like cables, leg machines, adjustable dumbbells, and attachments. At $1K I’m keeping it simple: a beginner-friendly all-in-one like the Major Fitness Drone 1, a budget RitFit bar, CAP bumpers (yeah, I’m not a bumper plate guy, but at $1K weight is weight), and my go-to Deltech FID bench. As the budget climbs, I move into the RitFit M1 Pro, then the Echo half rack functional trainer (and later the Smith version), and at $6K–$8K we’re talking MAXUM X2/SX2 territory with beefy stacks, articulating arms, and a “buy once, cry once” vibe—plus the GMWD leg machine and even a compact Force USA leg press/hack squat for the premium build. The big takeaway: save where it doesn’t matter, splurge where it does, and always leave yourself a clean upgrade path.
