About This Video

I’m breaking down the MAXUM Fitness X2 Functional Trainer Power Rack, and yeah… this thing is a freaking tank. You’re getting a 6-post, 3x3, 11-gauge rack with 1-inch holes, articulating arms, and a 220 lb stack on each side (plus weight horns if you want to load more). The big change vs the SX2 is simple: no Smith machine, and you’re moving to a 6-post setup with 1-inch hardware—so you’ve got more room for free-weight training inside the rack and a functional trainer up front without feeling crammed. In the video I go through what you actually get: multi-grip pull-up options, UHMW J-cups, safety straps, low row setup, landmine, a ridiculous amount of pins, and a bunch of cable attachments. The cable feel is smooth (same vibe as the SX2), and the articulating arms get wide enough to actually make flys feel legit. I also talk about real-world setup/testing notes—like how plate storage can interfere if you mount horns in the wrong spot—and I show that 1-inch attachments from other brands (Mutant Metals dip bar, Echo Strength J-cups) fit just fine. Bottom line: at ~$3,500–$3,600 with lifetime warranty and free shipping (continental US), I think it’s one of the better all-in-one buys for a garage gym—especially if you don’t care about a Smith machine.
