Chime Text Scam

intro:0:00 Chime info: 0:25 Scam Text: 0:58 what you can do: 1:56 I was recently sent a scam text trying to convince me it was related to the online finance company Chime. I found it odd because I'm not a Chime user. I'm only familiar with the company because of the TV ads. Chime Info: For those of you who aren't familiar with Chime, it's an online financial company. So basically they offer many banking services. You can read more about them via their about page. scam text: The text reads as follows: [REMINDER] CHIME: Your account will be deactivated! Login via the link below and follow the steps to avoid deactivation https://chime.com.do The text was sent from an official 1-800 number. 1-833-240-7821 When I did some research I found out that the latter part of the phone number was associated with the Los Angles County Health Department. What you can do: If you are a Chime user contact the company directly. I reached out to them and they replied rather quickly. I followed up by clarifying that I wasn't a Chime customer and that I didn't believe I had ID theft or fraud but that this was a scam.
